Dealing with stretch marks

Stretch marks and ways to Reduce and prevent them...


  • what are stretch marks: 

Stretch marks are a streak of reddish or white line on our skin, which appears mostly on the areas of abdomen,shoulders,arms and so on. In women, it appears during pregnancy over the abdomen area due to large stretch of skin. But stretch marks are readily available with the Bodybuilders who works hard to get large muscle size and in this process their skin stretches over million times leaves large stretch marks on various parts of the body. 
 How to minimise and prevent them:

Well, when it comes to removing and preventing the
stretch marks,lots of creams and lotions are available in the market which claims the complete removal of stretch marks but in reality complete removal is a myth. Here i am sharing some useful tips which can help specially Gym going guys to deal with stretch marks:

  1. The stretch marks naturally fades with time, when it appears first they looks reddish and with time it blends up with your skin color and becomes less noticeable,however we want to speed up this process and also want to keep working out.
  2.  Keeping your skin more elastic over the time will make it less vulnerable to the stretch marks,so i advice here to always keep your skin nourished with oils(coconut oil preferably) and lotions before hitting gym,specially those areas which are going to engage more in your current exercise schedule of the day.
  3. Our skin cells which makes our skin are lined up with fatty acids, so obviously if your diet lacks fatty acids or essential fats, your skin will not be able to maintain an elastic and healthy cell membrane and will develop stretch marks easily.
  4. Vitamin A & D are fat soluble vitamins and Vitamin D keeps our skin hydrated and Vitamin A helps to build collagen and subsequently keeps skin elastic and hydrated too. So without these Vitamins and the Fats necessary to dissolve these Vitamins, our skin becomes more vulnerable to the Stretch marks.
Lets summarize the above points:
1. Apply oil  (coconut oil) or other kind of lotions before going to gym.
2. Take a diet rich in essential Fats e.g. Omega-3(Walnuts,Flaxseeds etc), Fish oil, Broccoli, and         other kind of Nuts and seeds.
3. Add Vitamin A&D in your diet.
4. Massage those body parts frequently with coconut which has got stretch marks, it will help them to fade up over time.
